How to Enable Dark Mode on an iPhone or iPad

How to Enable Dark Mode on an iPhone or iPad – Apple’s iOS and iPadOS now feature system-wide dark mode if the bright brightness of your iPhone or iPad display bothers your eyes or disrupts your sleep. Here’s how to turn it on.

Because staring at a bright, white screen in a dark room is bad for your eyes, app developers have been including dark themes in their apps to counteract the negative effects of blue light. If you have an iPhone or iPad, though, you can use a switch to enable system-wide dark mode.

Your iPhone must have iOS 13 or above installed, and your iPad must have iPadOS installed. Go to Settings > General > Software Update to see which version you’re running. Tap Download and Install if an update is available. Here’s how you dim the lighting on your iPhone or iPad once it’s been updated.

Dark Mode should be enabled.

Navigate to Settings > Display & Brightness on your iPhone or iPad, then tap the Dark theme under Appearance. This will change the theme for built-in apps such as Files, Messages, Music, News, Notes, Photos, Safari, and TV, as well as some third-party apps that are compatible, such as Gmail. Others, such as Facebook’s app, will require activation.

Swiping down on the upper-right corner of the screen toggles dark mode on and off from the Control Center. Toggle the Dark Mode functionality on and off by long pressing the brightness shader and tapping the Dark Mode icon in the bottom left corner.

Dark Mode can be activated at any time.

You may plan when your device enters and exits dark mode if you’d like to confine it to a specified time of day. Toggle the Automatic option on in Settings > Display & Brightness.

It will run the light theme until sunset and the dark theme till sunrise by default. Tap Custom Schedule if you want to define particular timings for the dark and light mode. Set the time for the light mode to turn on and the time for the dark mode to be utilized.

These motifs will fade away on a daily basis, but you are not bound by them. Even if you have Automatic selected, you can still use Settings or Control Center to activate dark mode; light mode will activate with the following cycle.
