Manchester United has announced the signing of French Defender, Raphael Varane, subject to a medical.
This news all but confirms Varane as a Man United player pending a medical examination to finally complete his reported £43million transfer.
Varane will undergo his medical later in the week after all parties signed the agreement for the transfer earlier on Tuesday.
Due to the ongoing Covid 19 Precautions in the United Kingdom, Varane will need to quarantine when he arrives in Manchester, hence the deal may not be completed for a week.
A statement released by Manchester United reads “Manchester United is delighted to announce the club has reached an agreement with Real Madrid for the transfer of French international defender and World Cup winner, Raphaël Varane, subject to a medical and to player terms being finalized.”
The news of United and Real Madrid’s agreement for the transfer of the experienced defender made the rounds in the early hours of yesterday, Monday.
The report has it that Varane has been studying United’s defending from last season when they conceded 18 goals from set-pieces. This deal has dragged on for a month and Manchester United is glad to finally have their man, having expressed their firm interest in the France international midway through last season.
Ed Woodward, united’s executive vice-chairman has reportedly eyed the move for the serial winner since France’s 2018 World Cup triumph and he is delighted he can finally don the devils’ red.
