Over the weekend, it was filled with thrilling encounters. The English Premier League was greeted with the the return of one of it’s greatest players of all time, Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal.
Before his Old Trafford return, there was no sign of this coming to reality as clubs such as Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain of France were the ones mostly talked about for a possible transfer of the Portuguese star.
On Saturday 11 September, 2021 against Newcastle United, Ronaldo broke the tip of rhe iceberg of what he has in stock for his EPL return in the stoppage time of the first half by opening the scoring for the host.
Throughout a mistaken ball by the visiting team keeper, the host could easily get the lead with a sharp goal-hungry Ronaldo who did not hesitate to bury it into the net in the 45+2 minutes.
In the 56 minutes of the match, the visitors had the opportunity to have the first goal of the half. Newcastle United had an equalizer from Manquillo’s effort assisted by Saint-Maximin to level scores 1-1 for the visitors which ended up being a consolation goal when Man United resumed scoring in the second half.
In the 62 minutes, Ronaldo scored a superb goal being his second of the day to give the host the lead again through Bruno Fernandes assistance.
In the 80 minutes of the game, Bruno Fernandes increased the goal tally for the Red Devils to continue leading 3-1 with Pogba having the assist.
After 90 minutes of the match, in additional time of the game, Lingard who replaced Sancho in 66 minutes added to the score through Pogba, making his second direct assist of the day to make it 4-1 for the Old Trafford base team.
After the 4-1 win at Old Trafford, Man U climb to top of the English Premier League.
