It is possible to use Tinder without having a social media account.

Use Tinder without social media account – I don’t spend much time on Facebook anymore. It actually causes me a great deal of anxiety. It’s devolved into a bizarre mashup of Yelp reviews, Craigslist posts, and unfounded political pieces – hardly the sort of thing I want to see when I’m looking for some relaxation on the internet. I really deleted Facebook from my phone one day, out of pure disgust with the social media platform. However, as a frequent user of dating apps, I don’t think I’ll be able to completely exclude Facebook from my life. Is it possible to use Tinder without having a Facebook account? I’m assuming that to sign up for all of these applications, I’ll need to use Facebook to do so.

Unfortunately, this is true. Unfortunately, there is no easy way out of this situation: Most dating apps, including Tinder, require you to have a Facebook account in some form to sign up for an account. However, it is not a major issue because your personal, sexual, and romantic information is not shared with anybody other than you – if you exercise caution.

With the help of Tinder, I’ve discovered a method to virtually never go on Facebook (yeah, I get to dodge all of those political posts from my friends’ relatives), while yet keeping an active online dating life. So here’s how to preserve your Facebook while still being able to use dating apps without having to provide any personal information in the process.

To-Do This, You’ll Have To Change Your Share Settings

To access Facebook’s settings, navigate to the small downward-facing arrow in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. You can then select “applications” from the settings menu, which is located on the left-hand side of the screen.

For those of you who are anything like me, you’ll be amazed to see how many of your apps are actually connected with Facebook. Most of them, including Tinder, appear to be trustworthy, if not entirely trustworthy. From this tab, you have the ability to remove or edit all of the applications. But for the time being, let’s simply concentrate on editing Tinder.

To use the Tinder app without a Facebook account, go to settings and disallow yourself to see the Tinder app’s visibility on Facebook, which is recommended unless you want everyone to know when you’ve downloaded Tinder or met someone on the app. Not sure whether that’s what happens when you make your dating app habits public, but I’m not willing to risk finding out the hard way. Sorry, but it looks like my ambition of becoming an investigative journalist has come to an end.

Following that, you may select which information from your Facebook profile will be shared or linked with Tinder. When you create a Tinder profile, it will collect information from your Facebook account to assist you in filling out part of your profile information in the Tinder app and completing the algorithm that will locate you with the most compatible matches. (Oh, you were a fan of Nickelback’s Facebook fan page, right? Johnny, this guy inside your chosen age range and radius felt the same way.) However, you have the option of specifying specific information that you do not wish to be shared.

For example, if you do not want to disclose your friend’s list, employment history, birthdate, or relationship interests, you can uncheck the boxes next to each of these items. Also, keep in mind that you are not required to link your Instagram account if you are concerned about your privacy there as well.

Unfortunately, we are still living in an era in which Mark Zuckerberg has complete control over our lives, and we require Facebook to discover true love on Tinder. While you may not be able to completely abandon the website for the time being — at least if you’re still using dating apps — you now know how to tweak your sharing settings so that your siblings, parents, ex-partners, and bosses aren’t privy to your swiping habits.
