Obot Akara Council Chairman Flags-Off Planting of Coconut Seedlings

The Chairman Obot Akara Local Government Area Hon. (Lady) Agnes Udoenwenwen has flagged off the planting of special breed of coconut seedlings in Obot Akara LGA.

The flag-off took place on Tuesday at the Council Secretariat Nto Edino. Lady Udoenwenwen stated that Coconut is of high value and can possibly serve as alternative to crude oil.

She added that the usefulness of coconut cannot be overemphasized as it serves as raw materials for production of coconut milk and cream, coconut milk beverages, Coconut flour, Coconut milk powder etc.

She stressed that the exercise is to complement Governor Udom Emmanuel’s target of planting of 300,000 special breed of coconut seedlings in Akwa Ibom State.

The flag-off was witnessed by the Vice Chairman of the Council, Hon. Uduak Akpan, Council Secretary, Hon. Esau, Supervisor for Agriculture, Hon. Ime Udoka, Councillors and other officials of the Council.
