President Muhammadu Buhari has approved a Steering Committee on Petroleum Industry Act. This is to ensure proper implementation of the newly signed Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) into law.
The Steering Committee was approved on Wednesday and is headed by the Honorable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Mr. Timipre Sylva
The Committee is responsible for direct proper and timely implementation of the new Petroleum Industry Act in the course of transition to the Petroleum Industry.
The committee is to work in accordance with the reform program and ensure that the Institutions created have full capability to deliver on their mandate under the new legislation.
However, the committee is giving the duration of 12 months for the task ahead, while giving the president adequate periodic updates.
