… Flags-Off Sensitisation for CVR
“National Association of Akwa Ibom State Students (NAAKISS) Worldwide under my watch will not rest until the needs of Akwa Ibom State Students both at home and in diaspora are met”.
That was the position of the Worldwide President of NAAKISS, Snr. Comr. Aniedi Michael when he addressed Student Leaders of Akwa Ibom State during NAAKISS Worldwide expanded meeting.
The meeting which took place on Friday at R&R Event Center in Uyo had the presence of Students Leaders from all Students Leadership structures including the Senior Special Assistant to Governor on Students Matters, Comr. Akwaowo Clifford Ukpong and NANS Zone B Co-ordinator, Comr. Etinyene Offongekpe.
Comr. Aniedi Michael thanked God for the successful day and acknowledged the continuous support of Students Leaders to the achievements of his administration since his inception into office.
He stressed that his administration has recorded massive achievements that improve the image of the Association, calling on Students to see peace and love as cardinal factors that enhance growth and development in the Society.
He therefore urged Students to be committed to their studies and to register for PVC to involve in electoral processes.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor Udom Emmanuel on Students Matters, Comr. Akanowo Clifford Ukpong said Students should endeavor to register for their voter cards, which is the power they have to choose who they want to lead them in the next administration.
He advised that Students should make good use of the opportunity provided by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and to get involve in the government of the state by acquiring their party membership forms.
Clifford assured the Students community payment of bursary soonest, saying that Governor Udom Emmanuel has done so much to Akwa Ibom State Students Community. He called on Students to avoid any form of distraction that may affect their studies and to maintain peace for Peaceful coexistence.
Moreover, the Head of Department Operations for The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Vincent Ogene gave a pep talk on Continuous Voters Registration ( CVR). He said it is every citizen’s fundamental right to get a voter card, therefore students should make efforts to get themselves registered.
Ogene added that more polling units have been created in the State for the unserved places to be served. Mr Ogene said online registration will end when the 2023 elections is about to begin.
Other Students Leaders who spoke at the expanded meeting commended Comr. Aniedi Michael led administration, pledging their continuous support till the end of his tenure. They, however, called on Government to look into the welfare of the students.
High point of the expanded meeting were flagged-off of the Continuous Voters Registration, deliberation on the 12 points Demands of NAAKISS and inauguration of communicae Drafting Committee which is headed by Comr. Bassey Udofia, while Comr. Uwem Etukudo will serve as secretary.
Others who attended the meeting were: Head of Voters Unit in Akwa Ibom, Mr. Kenyi Okpuoto, Traditional Rulers Council, SUG Presidents, G-31 Chairman and all Chapters Presidents, female Student Leaders, Nsubom Worldwide, Coordinator of Niger Delta Students, Akwa Ibom Nursing Students, president of Akwa Ibom Law Students Worldwide, NAAKISS Worldwide Parliamentarians, NANS-JCC Akwa Ibom State Chapter, former NANS-JCC & the adviser to the NAAKISS Worldwide President, Comr. Ime Sylvanus.
