IPOB Sit-At-Home Protest Records Violence: Two Killed, Buses Burnt, Businesses Closed

No fewer than two persons were allegedly killed with buses set ablazed in Nnewi, Anambra State on Monday.

The incident occurred during the sit-at-home protest declared by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

According to sources, members of Indigenous People of Biafra were seen moving around the area singing and shouting “today is sit-at-home”

Sources also said that there were heavily armed youths were shouting anything sighted, even if it’s a fly must be destroyed”

They explained that no one could give an account of the lifeless bodies of young men found on the road. They added that there were sporadic shooting around Izuchukwu Park Junction.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State, Ikenga Tochukwu confirmed the incident, adding that Police Operatives had been sent to restore normalcy in the affected areas.

However, the sit-at-home order was observed in Nnewi and Onitsha as all businesses remain closed.
