AKSG in Rage: Marks Churches Owned by Sons of Faith for Demolition

…as Nyeneime Andy’s HGA tops list

As the 2023 Governorship election draws closer, Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration may stop at nothing to crush all perceived political enemies and camps into oblivion in order to fly its interest.

The State Government through the Uyo Capital City Development Authority(UCCDC), yesterday, marked Holy Ghost Ambassadors Church at Ekpanya in Uyo for demolition.

The Church is owned by Pastor Nyeneime Andy who belongs to a controversial league of clergymen dubbed ‘Sons of Faith’ and is a strong dissident of the moves by Governor Udom or any foreign element to impose a governor on the State in 2023.

In a defense for the planned demolition, the Executive Chairman, UCCDC, Enobong Uwah, during a routine monitoring exercise on Ekpanya street, observed that the over 15-year old church building is an illegal structure and does not meet the planning standards for approval.

Uwah who was represented by the Head of Town Planning Department, Mr Essiet Freddy during the exercise, said that the church building falls short of the minimum requirements expected for the construction of such edifice. He specifically pointed out such requirements as inadequate setbacks, space standards, building lines and area distribution.

However, sources close to the seat of power who confided in THE INK reporter noted that the planned demolition of the church is not unconnected to the clerics’ recent contrary views on the 2023 governorship.

He said it is believed that the fiery Pastor is supporting Senator Bassey Albert, whom is seen as not belonging to Governor Udom’s political camp neither willing to compromise interest.

The sources noted that tough times for all those perceived to contend with the Governor’s interest has just begun.
