How to Unsubscribe from a Paid App on an iPhone, iPad, or Computer
Are you ready to get rid of a monthly membership service that’s draining your bank account? On your iPhone, iPad, PC, or Mac, here’s how to cancel a membership.

You can quickly unsubscribe from a paid app on your iPhone or iPad, whether it’s a free trial, one of Apple’s own apps, or a third-party service. The procedure is simple and straightforward, but you must know where to go and which buttons to press. From your iPhone, iPad, or PC, here’s how to cancel a membership.

On your iPhone or iPad, unsubscribe.

Navigate to Settings, press your login, and click Subscriptions to see your active and expired subscriptions on iOS or iPadOS.

Tap Cancel Subscription after selecting an active subscription to cancel (or Cancel Free Trial). You’re done once you’ve tapped Confirm. Until the next billing cycle, your subscription will be active.

If you’re still on a free trial, your account will be automatically closed. If you have a free or discounted trial subscription, make sure you cancel it at least 24 hours before it expires, or your subscription may automatically renew before the cancellation is processed.

When you subscribe to an app, Apple assigns you and the developer a unique Subscriber ID. Your Subscriber ID is reset if you cancel an app subscription and do not re-subscribe within 180 days.

If you decide to reactivate a subscription before or after its expiration date, tap the subscription you wish to reactivate and choose a payment method. Choose your preferred subscription choice if the app offers multiple subscription options. To re-subscribe, confirm your modifications.

Use the App Store to unsubscribe.

You can also cancel a subscription by navigating to your device’s App Store. Tap your profile symbol in the upper right corner of the App Store app. Tap Subscriptions on your account page, then select the active subscription you want to cancel.

Confirm your selection by tapping the Cancel Subscription link. At the end of that billing cycle, the subscription will be discontinued, and your access will be revoked. If you want to re-subscribe, the service will still be advertised with the various subscription options.

Apple Music should be turned off.

If you want to cancel Apple Music, you can do it using the app. Open Apple Music on your iPhone or iPad to do so. Tap the bottom-right Listen Now symbol, then the upper-right profile icon. Tap the Manage Subscription link on the Account page. On the Edit Subscription page, you can then cancel or amend the subscription. On an Android smartphone, a similar procedure can be used to unsubscribe.

Unsubscribe in Catalina or Big Sur on macOS

You can cancel a subscription in System Preferences if you’re running macOS Catalina or macOS Big Sur. Select System Preferences from the Apple ID icon, then click the Apple ID icon. Select Media & Purchases, then Subscriptions, and click the Manage button.

Find the subscription you want to cancel in the Subscriptions box and click the Edit link next to it. To cancel a subscription, click the Cancel Subscription button, confirm the cancellation, and then click Done.

In the Mac App Store, unsubscribe.

You may also cancel and manage an app subscription directly from the App Store on a Mac. Open the App Store app and go to the lower-left corner of the window to your account name. Click the View Information link in your Account window.

To access the Manage section, scroll to the bottom of the Account Information screen. Next to Subscriptions, click the Manage link. To cancel an app subscription, click the Edit link next to it. Click the Cancel Subscription option on the next screen, and then confirm the cancellation.

Click the Manage option next to the Subscriptions setting at the bottom of your Account page. To cancel a subscription, click the Edit link next to it.

Click the Cancel Subscription button on the Edit Subscription page. A notice appears, requesting confirmation that you wish to terminate your subscription. To confirm, press the Confirm button.

Delete Your Email Subscription

You can access the essential subscription window via email if you preserved the confirmation email you received when you first subscribed to the app. To review your subscription, click the link in the email. You can now review and cancel the subscription in the Edit Subscription window.
