Current European champions, Chelsea, had many players and coaches who were nominated for UEFA seasonal awards this year, which only matched bearing in mind the women’s team getting to the final of the 2020/2021 Champions League and the men’s team won squarely all awards.
A part of the players that were nominated have now included these individual awards to their personal trophy cabinets as well.
These players that won the UEFA individual awards include Edouard Mendy who was decorated as the Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year, N’Golo Kanté was recognized with Men’s Midfielder of the Year, on the other hand, Jorginho was rewarded with Men’s Player of the Year award while the club’s Manager, Thomas Tuchel added to his resume, Men’s Coach of the Year.
Disappointingly as it was, both César Azpilicueta and Antonio Rüdiger were excluded for Men’s Defender of the Year which went to Ruben Dias instead, who fell disgracefully down to the ground during the UEFA Champions League Finals as Kai Havertz scored the winner in Porto.
Comparatively, on the female team, the coaching side, Emma Hayes was denied in favor of Barcelona’s Lluis Cortes. Barca made a complete sweep of the women’s awards. Thomas Tuchel’s case appears very clear as he carted home his well deserved award.
