Cristiano Ronaldo, 36, scored two late goals which was the equalizer and the winner. All of the two goals were headers. The two goals broke and also extended the record after his penalty was saved by Ireland goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu.

The record formerly held by Ali Daei of Iran, who scored 109 goals between 1993 and 2006. A record which Ronaldo matched with a double against France at Euro 2020.

The current Manchester United player has also equalled Spanish Sergio Ramos’ European record for men’s caps with his 180th Portugal appearance.

The two goals against Ireland (both headers), marked Cristiano Ronaldo’s 28 headers goals for Portugal.
